A typical float lasts for 60 minutes. We do recommend allowing 75 minutes for each session, giving you time to shower before and afterwards.
For optimal results, we recommend floating without any clothing. Any clothing will feel heavy and distract from the full experience. If you feel it is necessary, a bathing suit will work just fine.
We provide all the essentials for your float (towels, soaps, shampoos, earplugs, etc). If you prefer to use your own items you are more than welcome to bring them.
Our pods are 7'0" long inside (7'3" diagonally). This means most visitors can float comfortably at HydroZen. We do not have a weight limit, as long as you can get into and out of the float pod safely on your own.
Yes of course! Floating is wonderful for expecting mothers. Please consult with your physician before floating to ensure you are a good candidate.
Floating is a wonderful experience for children! We accept floaters as young as 10 years old. However, any floater under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult, as children float in their own float pods at HydroZen.
Bring an open mind to fully experience each float, a hair brush and deodorant (if desired). We will provide body wash, shampoo, and conditioner (only for after the float), towels, ear plugs, and bottled water. Eat a light snack about an hour prior to your float.
Yes! It is not uncommon and some people actually prefer to sleep during their float. The water is extremely buoyant so you stay afloat. If you tend to shift positions in your sleep, the worst that can happen is salt water in your eyes. We will provide a wash cloth and freshwater spray bottle to get the sting out if that happens.
Shaving the day of your float. Caffeine for 2-3 hours prior. Eating a large meal before you float. Smoking immediately before you float. *Please be aware that you cannot float for 2 weeks immediately following getting your hair dyed, a week following a spray tan, while a tattoo is healing, while menstruating, or if you have an open wound.
During a float, the cleaning system is turned off, in an idle mode, so as not to disturb the person floating. Afterwards and in between floats, the water cycles through an efficient filtration system that consists of:
This system effectively filters, disinfects, and purifies the water. Another special aspect of float pod is the high salinity. At 25% Epsom salt, nothing can survive in the water that's harmful to humans. Most organisms (except for halophiles) die off in concentrations of 10-14%. Yay for Epsom salt!
A Float Guru also cleans, sanitizes, and restocks the outside of the pod and the float room. A safe and sanitary float environment is one of our highest priorities. If a pod or room does not meet our expectations, we will not have floaters use it, for their health and safety.
